Board Member Job Description

The Arizona Community tree Council is looking for committed volunteers to serve on our organization's governing body. The Board Member's responsibilities include advising on strategic plans, participating in our programs, and monitoring ACTC’s financial affairs.

Board members are expected to prepare for and attend six board meetings each year; these meetings may be attended in-person or by Zoom and are scheduled for the year in advance. We count on our board members to be active participants and work toward advancing the vision and mission of ACTC.

To be successful as a board member you should have good communication and interpersonal skills. We also expect board members to respond to emails, volunteer on a committee, and support fundraising efforts.

Board Member Responsibilities:

• Knowing the organization's mission, programs, policies, and needs.
• Preparing for meetings by reviewing the agenda and supporting documentation.
• Regularly attending board meetings and participating actively and conscientiously.
• Keeping up with issues and trends that affect the organization.
• Contributing to the development of policies and strategic plans.
• Understanding the organization's financial affairs and ensuring fiduciary responsibilities are met.

Board Member Requirements:

• Current member of ACTC (any member type is eligible).
• Knowledge of the organization and the relevant industry.
• Sufficient time availability for board duties during the full two-year service term.
• Good Communication, diplomatic and interpersonal skills.
