Presentation Description:   Join Katherine for an insightful session on the climate challenges facing the Southwest and the role of agroforestry in building resilient agricultural landscapes. In this session, we will learn about innovative agroforestry applications in the Southwest that not only help mitigate climate change, but that also help farms and ranches adapt to the effects of climate change. Katherine will break down the science behind these strategies and will share some of the work done by the Southwest Climate Hub and the USDA National Agroforestry Center to support land stewards in adapting to a changing climate.

Presenter Bio:   Katherine Favor is a Climate Hubs Agroforestry Fellow with the USDA National Agroforestry Center, where she works across government sectors to advance knowledge and understanding of agroforestry among various agencies. Much of her work centers around researching and promoting agroforestry as a tool for mitigating and adapting to climate change. She has worked as an agroforestry technical assistance provider, educator, practitioner, and researcher for over 10 years both nationally and internationally, helping land stewards learn about and adopt agroforestry practices. She received her MS in Agroforestry from the University of Missouri Columbia, where she researched Argentinian vineyard agroforestry systems. When she’s not working you can find her farming barefoot on her small backyard agroforestry farm in San Diego, California.
