What is Certified Arborist Training (CAT)?
The Certified Arborist Training Course is a series of classes designed to prepare students to take the ISA Certified Arborist exam. It is also an excellent introduction to the field of arboriculture, as well as a great review for industry professions. The course is open to all students. CEU's are offered for Certified Arborists.

What protocols are we following for this in-person event?

The City of Scottsdale is providing a 300 seat auditorium so that we can easily adhere to Scottsdale's health and safety protocols for in-person meetings.  Those protocols include:

  • Attendees must wear a face covering / mask over their mouth and nose while in the venue.
  • Attendees will have their temperature taken with an electric forehead reader before they can enter the venue.
  • Attendees will be be sat with two chairs between each participant to achieve the proper physical distance and attendees will sit in that same chair for the full day.
  • During breaks, attendees are asked to maintain physical distances of 6 feet.

Classes cover all chapters in the ISA Arborists' Certification Study Guide.

What materials do I need?

For continuing students, The ISA Arborists' Certification Study Guide was included with your Full Registration. (All Daily Registrants are required to provide their own ISA Arborists' Certification Study Guide, and may purchase with from ACTC for $75 on the day you arrive.)

What is the cost of the CAT Program series?

If you already paid, you have a credit on your registration and only need to let us know you are coming.  New registrants can pay $60 a day and choose the number of days between 1 and 4.
Non-members pay the annual membership fee in addition to the registration fee.

What if I am unable to attend and was previously registered?  You can continue to hold the credit we have on your account for a future meeting or request a refund.  The registration credit does not expire and you can use it next year as well.

When do I need to register for the CAT classes? Registration is open online or you can call for assistance at (602) 354-3023.

How do I get to the venue and where do I park?  The auditorium is in the lower level of the Civic Center Library.  There are free parking options nearby and the closest one is a garage with a 6’6” clearance.  This PDF shows some other options for higher profile trucks.  The Scottsdale Civic Center Library is located at 3839 N Drinkwater Blvd.  Directions:

  • From the 202 freeway exit on Indian School Rd and head west. Turn south (left) on 75th Street. At the stop sign at 2nd Street turn right and head the parking garage.
  • From Scottsdale Road – Head East on Indian School Road and South on 75th Street, at the stop sign turn right on 2nd Street turn right and head into the parking garage.
  • This Parking entrance leads you to the lower level of the Library, park in the lower level and head towards to lower level entrance of the Library and the Copper Gallery is immediately inside the doors. These doors will be open before 9 AM as we can control public access.
  • If you Map the address it will lead you to Drinkwater Blvd and the parking garage entrance will lead you to upper level of the garage and the Library.

Can I bring my own lunch or are there nearby lunch options? You are welcome to bring you own lunch and there are nearby shady areas to eat.  Scottsdale asks that you maintain the physical distance when on their property even outside of the library.  Here is a link to nearby food option.
