Young is Winner of ACTC Annual Arizona Tree Climbing Championships
Young Climbs to the Top to Advance to Regionals
PHOENIX, Arizona January 26, 2011 - Climbing to the top at the Annual Arizona Tree Climbing Competition was Andrew Young of Mesa, AZ and owner of Tree Amigos.
Young won the Master's Climb to secure his place as Arizona's best climber. His win secures his spot at this weekend's Western Chapter Tree Climbing Competition at Balboa Park in San Diego, Calif. on Saturday, January 30.
Dan Stevens of Living Tree Service and three-time ACTC Tree Climbing Champion, placed second in the Master's Climb and Johnnie Morales of Tree Doctors, Inc. placed third.
"It was a great day to be out there," said Conni Ingallina, executive director of the ACTC. "There were well over 100 spectators who came out to watch the day-long event." All who competed in the annual competition are professional tree climbers who prune trees, care for trees and save lives. ACTC's Tree Climbing Championships bring out the state's best and highly-skilled climbers."
"The day-long event helps educate the public and instills a respect for tree climbers and focuses on techniques and equipment to improve the work environment for all tree care professionals," adds ACTC Immediate Past President Louisa Ballard.
A total of 23 competitors came out for the Arizona Tree Climbing Competition, hosted by the Arizona Community Tree Council, climbed a mighty eucalyptus, a 100-foot giant in the Peart Park in Casa Grande, Arizona on January 15.
Following the Western Chapter Tree Climbing Competition, is international competition, which will be held in Sydney, Australia June 2011.
