WHERE IS IT?  Esteban Park in Phoenix; 3345 E Roeser Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85040;  Google Map Directions  

WHO WILL COMPETE?  Pre-registered Tree Climbing Competitors - Experienced & Master Climbers, there is no Novice Climb at this competition. You must be at least 16 years old to compete. 

The Arizona Tree Climbing Championship is open to climbers from Arizona as well as out-of-state competitors.  

New this year: Team Competition with a Travelling Trophy!

IS THERE A DEADLINE TO REGISTER?  Deadline to register is Friday, February 10.

WHAT IS THE FEE TO COMPETE?  $95 per individual climber; $75 for each additional climber from the same company.

ARE CEU'S AVAILABLE?  Up to 3 CEU's are available.

CLIMBERS - WHAT TO BRING:  All registered climbers to bring their own climbing equipment. 

Climb contestants shall wear no less equipment than:

  • headgear approved for climbers,
  • tree worker’s saddle/harness,
  • handsaw in scabbard,
  • appropriate clothing and footwear,
  • safety glasses, and
  • a work-positioning lanyard.

CLIMBERS - WHAT ABOUT GEAR CHECK?  All registered climbers will need their gear checked by judges of the competition. 

CLIMBERS - WHAT IS INCLUDED IN MY REGISTRATION?  All registered climbers will receive:

  • Lunch
  • Water
  • ACTC Tree Climbing Championship long-sleeve t-shirt
  • Chance to win amazing prizes!
  • Chance for your team to win the Team Travelling Award!

WHAT CLIMBS WILL BE INVOLVED?  Our Annual Tree Climbing Championship and Master's Challenge are judged competitions featuring:

  • Aerial Rescue
  • Belayed Speed Climb
  • Secured Footlock
  • Throwline
  • Work Climb

Each event is designed to test the competitors’ ability to quickly, professionally, and safely climb through a tree as they perform the tasks required by each event. 

Tree climbing competitions are designed to simulate the kind of real-time working conditions that arborists and tree workers experience every day in their challenging line of work.  Utilizing the highest level of professional skills and safety, these events give working arborists the opportunity to use their skills in a competitive environment.

The overall winner will be designated the 2017 Arizona Tree Climbing Champion and prizes will also be awarded to the top finishers in each event.

WHAT ARE THE RULES? HOW WILL CLIMBERS BE JUDGED?  Judging will be based on the ITCC Rules.  

WHO ELSE CAN GO?  The whole family, friends & co-workers of climbers, ACTC Members, and other spectators are welcome to come and spend an enjoyable day together at Esteban Park in the shade of the amazing trees.  
Bring a picnic and put down a blanket on the lawn where you can watch the day’s activities.  Exhibitors & Sponsors are also welcome!

Spectator Admission & Children Activities are FREE - including a 40-foot obstacle course! 

Food will be available for purchase from the following food trucks.
